解体した家からもらった木材を２日間かかてきれいにした。まず、ただ捨てられるゴミの見た目をして欲しくない（ほんとのゴミだたのに）。さらに、いろんな人がデッキの上にのんびりして欲しいんで足とおしりにとげが最悪です！
We spent 2 days getting the wood ready for the deck. First of all, I don’t want it to look like it was just someone’s garbage (even though it was). Plus, lots of people are going to be hanging out on it and splinters in feet and butts suck.
This is way more fun than it looks! 見た目よりほんとに楽しかったよ！
A sentence taken from “The Secret Life of Trees:”
” I once found myself in an old kapok tree in Costa Rica in which biologists had thus far listed more than 4000 different species of creatures.”
4,ooo species of diffent creatures in one tree. Wow, that’s like a whole forest of things so full of life, the World Trade Center pales in comparison. Just one of the reasons that I can’t bring myself to buy wood.
I kept coming back to this thought over the two days we spent sanding and working with each of these huge pieces of pine. I felt such respect for these trees~and great satisfaction that we were giving them a new life instead of just tossing them away.

”コスタリカのカポクの木に生物学者が４０００種類の生き物を数えました。”
１本の木に４，０００種類の生き物。wow. それは世界貿易センターに比べても生き物いっぱい住んでいる、すごい超高層ビルだよ。（だからホームセンターから木材を買いたくない）。
この２日間の間すごいでっかい松の梁を削りながら”一本の木に４，０００種類の生き物”の考えずっと頭に入てた。もらった木のために深いレスペクト持って～この木を生き返て使うのはほんとに満足でした。
