With the cold weather and all the news about the new flu going around, there’s a lot of talk about vaccines and tamiflu…did you know that Japan prescribes tamiflu more than any other country in the world, despite a government warning against it in March 2007? The Guardian newspaper in the UK reported that more than half the children in England taking the drug Tamiflu suffer side-effects such as nausea, insomnia and nightmares. Other side effects include increased risk of self-injury and confusion, and in severe cases psychotic and/or minor hallucinogenic reactions.
The truth is, even though it’s a new year and a new flu strain, it’s still just as easy as ever to keep yourself healthy through cold and flu season. There are a few cheap, easy, natural and safe ways to keep your immune system strong, so your chances of getting sick are slim, even if you come in contact with germs or viruses. If you do get sick, there are lots of plants and foods that will help speed your recovery.
